Resolutions – Firsts

Why do we need a date to start a resolution?

If you want to begin something, DO IT

If you want to stop something, DO IT

If you have the thought, write it down, stew on it for a couple of days, maybe talk it over with a friend or complete stranger.  If it is going to happen, it will.  Don’t wait for a certain date to believe in yourself.  You can do whatever you want.  Yes it is scary, very at times.  Who cares what other people might think.  Take the chance, the worse thing that could happen is that you go back to doing what you are doing right now.

I did my first 5Km on January 1.  I did do it on this day only because my brother signed me up.  I was not prepared at all!!  I finished with him by my side at 47 min.  The feeling was very empowering starting off with everyone at the same time.  I felt great like I could have ran forever, a bit Forrest Gumpish.  That feeling past in the next thirty seconds.  Of course I did not run the whole way.  The support system along the way made you feel like a winner and as someone pointed out when I finished it was my personal best.

The glass is always half full.

So is true when starting anything new, the support will be the people you least expect.  Keep your options open and your mind free, be positive and accept all advice.

This is something I have wanted to do since opening the cafe, a blog that is not running, who ever said you can only do one new thing?  So here is to you and for all things new.
